Though known globally, the 1980’s Care Bear toys, cartoon shows and movie franchise has a strong Toronto history. The original 1985 Care Bears Movie was created in Toronto by Canadian animation studio Nelvana (their second feature film ever). It is also one of the first feature films based on a toy line. This work adds a modified giant Idol statue being built over the Toronto waterfront in a distant future after humans. Once again being built and explored by odd Visitors. There are a lot of small nods to the franchise and fun details to be found – but I’ll leave that up to you to find.
