Commissions
A painting of the place or memory that matters to YOU.
Bring Todd a landscape you love, an icon you grew up with or a subject you can’t stop thinking about. He’ll make it an original Todd Lawson painting, one of a kind, vibrant and imaginative and made for your wall.

Living with the work
Large panels, floater frames and vibrant colour. These are paintings made to anchor any room in your office or home.
How a commission works
- 01
Request and call
Send the project form below. Todd follows up with a phone or video call to talk through your idea, the size and where it will hang.
- 02
Contract and deposit
You receive a contract with the price and a timeline. Once it’s signed, a deposit reserves your place in the studio schedule and starts the design work.
- 03
Sketch and colour
Todd develops the composition and presents a finished sketch with a rough colour range for you to review. Expect a few rounds of back and forth here.
- 04
Sign-off and painting
Once you sign off the sketch, the second payment is due and painting begins. From this point the composition is set.
- 05
Delivery
The balance is due on delivery. Your painting arrives ready to hang, with a signed certificate of authenticity.
The details
Pricing
Commissions are priced at the current market value of an original of the same size, plus 25% surcharge. The extra covers the consultation, sketches and revisions that a commission involves.
Payments
Three stages. A deposit at the start, a payment at sketch sign-off and the balance on delivery.
Creative direction
You are commissioning Todd’s creativity, not a copy of his style executed to exact instructions. You’ll be asked about subject, mood and colour ranges, and you approve the sketch, but the artist has the final say on the image and its direction.
Materials and framing
Every commission is painted in acrylic on wood panel. A floater frame is available for an additional fee.
Delivery
Free personal delivery by the artist in Windsor-Essex, Chatham-Kent, London and southwestern Ontario. Personal delivery elsewhere in Ontario includes a fuel charge. Everywhere else, the work is shipped fully tracked and insured, with no exceptions, at the buyer’s cost. Shipping and framing are added to the commission fee.
Cancellation
If you cancel after the sketches are presented, you receive 50% of your deposit back. If you cancel after signing off the sketch, the deposit and the sketch sign-off payment are kept, and nothing further is owed.
Copyright
You own the painting, for personal and public display. Copyright and all usage rights stay with the artist under Canadian copyright law, so the work may not be copied, reproduced, licensed or used commercially in any way. This will be written into the contract you sign at the start and includes any misuse of sketches if work is cancelled before completion.
Authenticity
Every commission comes with a signed certificate of authenticity.
