An all new collection started by Contemporary Artist Todd Lawson. Though still officially untitled the “Disney World Inspired Series” is a new direction for Todd’s paintings focusing more on detailed, large scale works. The series is a collection of visual scapes about a future rediscovery of Walt Disney World by a new culture.

It is meant to be a positive and alternative statement toward the staying power of this testament of Americana pop culture and magic…the mind wonders

During the painting of this first piece in the series Todd Lawson showed followers on his Facebook page an intimate step by step progression of the work from initial sketch to finished piece. It was the first time he allowed people to see up close how his paintings develop. The progress photos are viewable on his facebook fan page.

Limited Edition Prints expected to be available soon. Additionally a gallery showing is forecast for 2011 or 2012 depending on the speed of additional paintings in the series.

Since late 2009 I’ve been working on and off on my largest painting ever and documenting it step by step on my fan page for fans. Follow me and watch as the work progresses. Featuring my largest paintings to date and even a pair of landscapes to mix things up, Midnight Garden is an emotionally darker and more personal body of work for me then recent projects. Attacking topics such as sexuality, communication (or lack there of), loneliness, memories, dreams and paranoia, this collection is more about myself and those close and far from me and my own demons and memories. Whether work will continue in the vein or not is still unknown to me.

As a call back to the cold war and world war era visual and written propaganda, today’s general public now finds itself in a state of heightened paranoia for all things government and business related as they are hammered daily by media outlets. Think, don’t speak; watch, don’t blink…society’s laziness and shallow view of life has forced us into a state of quiet, paranoid submission. We know we are lied to, we know we are herded like cattle; we see the slow disintegration of ourselves and everything we know, yet other than the odd protest or verbal outburst, we decide to sit back and watch.
